DBT Skills Groups

Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adults

At Clarity CBT & DBT Center, we offer structured, evidence-based skills training groups for youth, parents, and adults. Whether you’re struggling with emotion dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, self-harm urges, or simply want to build resilience and mindfulness, our DBT skills groups provide a supportive community and expert-led instruction in the heart of Los Angeles.
Why join a DBT skills group?
In our groups you will:
  • Learn the four key DBT modules — Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
  • Practice skills in real time with peers experiencing similar struggles.
  • Build a toolkit for managing intense emotions, reducing self-destructive behaviors, improving relationships, and increasing self-awareness.
  • Receive support in either a virtual or in-person format—flexible to your needs and location.
Who are these groups for?
  • If you or your child  feels emotions going from 0 ➝ 100 too quickly and want greater control.
  • Individuals who have difficulty tolerating distress, managing impulses, or regulating moods.
  • People interested in improving how they relate to others: communicating their needs, setting boundaries, and engaging more effectively.
  • If you are ready to commit to a skills-based (not just talk-based) group format and want actionable strategies to can use outside of the session.

  • Apply Emotion Regulation skills: identify and name emotions, reduce vulnerability to intense emotional reactions.
  • Use Distress Tolerance techniques: survive crisis moments without resorting to harmful behaviors, build radical acceptance of reality.
  • Utilize Interpersonal Effectiveness strategies: ask for what you need, say no, manage conflict, maintain self-respect and relationships.
This multi-module approach is central to DBT and emphasises both change and acceptance. Clarity CBT & DBT Center+1

FAQs
Is this group suitable if I am on medication, in individual therapy, or see a psychiatrist?
Yes — you may be working with a psychiatrist, on meds, or in one-on-one therapy. The group is designed to complement that care by focusing specifically on skills.
What if I miss a session?
We recommend attending all sessions when possible since each builds on previous material. If you miss one, our clinician may provide a brief catch-up or refer you to make up time in another cohort.
Do I have to talk in front of the group?
While sharing is encouraged, this is a skills training group with structured modules—not an open process group. Participation in skill exercises is emphasized over personal processing sharing.
When does the next group start?
The next cohort begins soon. Contact us to check current availability for the Teen or Adult group and to get a flyer with specific dates, times, and pricing.
